We
Have A Winner!
Last Sunday, Louisville was the destination for more than 100 show cars in the 3rd Annual Last Hot Sunday in July event! Even though the sky threatened rain, only 4 rain drops (unofficial count) fell during the 4 hour event, and the car owners quickly buffed and shined those drops away. The smell of Car Wax, and exhaust mixed with the aroma of hot Gambino's Pizza and the 50's tunes to make a perfect afternoon. Cory reported that the Cafe was packed, and everyone had a great time. Not all vehicles that showed registered, several dozen sneaked in late due to a terrible freeway closing accident on I80, 102 registrations were recorded. With more than 5 times the cars than attended last year, the special Goodie Bags ran out and parking space on Main Street was exhausted. Volunteers from the BUILD Events Committee were parking cars on 2nd street, and after that anywhere they could be squeezed in. From the Editor I got an Email from the Mayor! For those of you living in the big city it seems an amazing thing! Part of the beauty of small town life is the connection that you feel to everything. It is all so hands-on, so up close and personal. You do however have to get past the fact that everybody knows everything that you do, almost as fast as you know what you did, but that is kinda cool in it's way. Any ways, I still get a thrill from the fact that the Mayor of Louisville actually knows my name! I mean, ... that means I must be Somebody!! Hey I get an email from the honorable Mayor Mueller and I am not even in trouble! I can't tell you what it was about..
..Secret
Stuff, official
Hogwarts business you know..
..but it is still mighty cool. The folks at
the State that study people trends, people moving in, moving out.. patterns,
spreadsheets, forecasts.. They
have concluded that a dependable percentage of folks that grow up in small
town Nebraska, get their diploma, and take a hike, eventually come home to
live and work. It is good
to find peace and quiet, it is good
to be somebody when it is all said and done. So, you folks in downtown LA have had enough of traffic, smog, and drive-by shootings, check out Louisville. Maybe someday, you too will get an email from the Mayor!
