Crown Rib Roast!
Oh, No..4th Week in January - Depression sets in..
All up and down Main Street, folks are coughing and sniffling
Maureen at the Hardware Store had a bug that lasted 3 weeks.
Even the decorations at Coup DeVille and Art Chicks seem a little less sparkly.
It is that terrible time when College football is gone for the next 7 months, and even the NFL is all but done. One game left, and then nothing. LENT
So what is there to be happy about? MEAT!
Louisville has many special features known only to the locals that help make life great.
It is easy for us to forget, or take for our Jeff Powers!
Louisville has a no-kidding butcher, better than any you will find in the big city, and he is all ours, so don't tell anybody!
There is nothing, that can chase the 4th week in January blues away like some special order steaks, or chops or that feast of feasts a rolled rib roast!
Jeff will listen as you describe what you are imagining and then he asks a couple questions. Like an architect planning a bridge, and then a couple days later he has it all prepared just for you!
A week later when you are in picking up a newspaper, he asks "How Was it?" He not only remembers your name, but he remembers your rib roast!
We had Jeff make us a Crown Rib Roast for our traditional Christmas Feast, it was a work of art!
We took a picture of it, Click Here: http://www.louisvillenebraska.com/jeffs/crownroast1.jpg
It was inexpensive, it was beautiful and it tasted fabulous! I am still trying to run that off on the treadmill...
Anyways, Jeff only gets on average 5 - 6 special requests a month, and he would like to do more!
He takes a lot of pride in his work, and this is a special Louisville Feature that is available to anyone, and it is just a shame to miss it!
Jeff and Ken have been operating our Main Street "Jack and Jill" market for 16 years.
Jeff bought the store from good old Paul McManis back in June of 1990 Jeff and Ken are 2 of the hardest working local business - people in our Community.
I say that, because they are always there, always open when we need them. Storms, holidays, 7 days a week morning - to night every day, Monday - Sunday.
I asked Jeff if he could remember a day, when they could not open the store for some reason.
He said No, I said; "No you can't remember? He said: "No, there was never a day when they did not open the store" , in nearly 17 years.
Jeff and Ken have 10 people working with them at the store, for a total work force of 12.
I asked Jeff:, "Do you ever get tired of that little tune that your front door plays constantly."
He smiled, and said: "No, never! That means another person that we can help."
Not commonly known: Jeff Powers is a marathoner, if you can't find him in the store, check your television - he may be running down the street in the Boston Marathon!
