There is no Joy in Mudville....
Hey, the big guy nails one!!
Last edition of the newsletter; http://louisvillenebraska.com/whatsnew.htm
I stuck my neck out, and predicted the triumphant victory of Louisville's own
"feerless crew" of "castaways" in the 4th of July Boat Parade on Cedar
Lake and waddya think! They did it!!!
So, "sit right back" and click this link! http://www.louisvillenebraska.com/4th2000.htm
to see our local heros!
I gotta tell you I was feeling a little nervous about shooting my
mouth off like that, when we saw the competition from the shore, but they bailed me out
and won first place! (Whew!!)
.....And now a word from about our sponsor!
For those of you that have still not signed up for Home State Bank's OnLine
Banking.. What are you waiting for?? This is the greatest invention since sliced bread! My
wife and I use it daily checking on balances, transferring funds and seeing what checks
have cleared. It is a wonderful and powerful tool that anybody can use. Take a minute and
give this link a click! http://www.hsbonline.com/how.htm
Louisville History
We actually had someone score 100%, (10 out of 10), correct answers last week
on our Louisville History Trivia Quiz! (I suspect that they might have been cheating, but
I am not sure how) Anyways, congratulations to the history buff out there, and for those
of you that have not tried, give it a click here: http://www.louisvillenebraska.com/quiz/quiz01.html
Bad Computer John..
Well, I am definitely aware that the decision to shut off the "anonymous
posting" feature on the Discussion Forums was not a very popular one.. My first clue
was the small group, (with a bucket of tar and sack of feathers), that met me at the local
watering hole to discuss their concerns. I have to tell you that my keyboard is getting
all black and sticky from this $%^!# tar, but I am hanging tuff on my decision.
It is clearly important that everyone have a voice and a forum to
bring their thoughts and ideas to the table.
But at the same time, we should be willing stand up and be counted,
and that means putting a name with our thoughts.
A little history sidebar: http://louisvillenebraska.com/4th.htm
I read that John Hancock signed the declaration of Independence in
huge letters so that the king of England "could read it without his glasses!".
I mean, they had a beef or two back then, but they did not voice
their grievances as "anonymously yours".
I am going to insist that this is not too much to ask to participate
in our Community discussions. http://www.louisvillenebraska.com/discus/
Uh, oh... I see the committee representing an opposing viewpoint has
found a rope... Gotta Run! More on this later!
Well, well, well...
Okay, here again it must be pointed out that we are still under water
emergency conditions and we are still obligated to live within these constraints. http://louisvillenebraska.com/city/water_alarm.htm
I know, we are all on the verge of sand bagging the creek with the downpours we have been
getting lately, but it takes time and continued rain to replenish the aquifer, (I am
told), and we aren't there yet.
Here is a link so you can watch our underground water flow
real-time: http://www-ne.cr.usgs.gov/rt-cgi/gen_stn_pg?station=06805500
Look at it this way, the good lord has taken over your watering responsibilities, so cheer
up!
But I digress..
For me the hardest time of the year has arrived. I feel myself sinking into that familiar
funk that comes when the last of the fireworks have been lit, and before football
returns..
It just does not seem fair! Every time of year has got it's built in
motivational elements.
In the fall you have the holidays approaching with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and
New Years, but then you have spring just ahead and the world turning green, which is
followed by Memorial Day and then the best day of all the 4th of July!!
Now what?......
At this point, we got 90 degree heat, and bugs, (read chiggers), to put up with as we
struggle to make it to FOOTBALL SEASON!! http://www.huskernews.com/texis/scripts/vnews/newspaper/+/ART/2000/04/01/38e7e0082
So as we tromp through all the mud on main street, take some joy in knowing that the
Huskers will be back in only 7 Weeks!!!!
Remember, If you can walk and chew gum, or even if you can't but you
live in Louisville, NE please volunteer to become an editor for this Newsletter. just
email mailto:editor@wirebuilt.com and You
are In!
Having fun, and saving water south of the river....
