July 3, 2000 The Day of Judgement is upon us.... Say, it has come to my attention that many of you are not clear on the use of our increasingly popular Discussion Forums; http://www.louisvillenebraska.com/discus/ On the left side of the screen, at the top, there are clickable buttons labeled:
Try clicking on "Last Week". What you will see is all the conversations that had new postings during the last 7 days. Additionally "Last Day" gives you new postings with the last 24 hours. This is very useful when you are just checking in and don't want to wade through all of the history, you just want to see recent postings. This is really the best way to keep current on all the recent hub-bub. CALLING ALL BUSINESSES!! I have been officially informed that we STILL have a water emergency in effect contrary to some apparent rumors. I don't like it any better than you do, but it is, what it is so lets deal with it! http://www.louisvillenebraska.com/discus/ You can read all the details and the how fors by clicking on "Water Emergency Situation" and then clicking on "What are the prospects for the future?" I think the city is doing a heck of a job laying out all the facts for us. I appreciate the folks that have taken advantage of the Free Classified Ads! http://louisvillenebraska.com/bbs/ The more stuff we have listed the more people will check it out, so don't forget to place an ad for that old bagel-cutter you don't use anymore. (Come to think of it, I am in the market for a bagle cutter!) I am feeling a little tension in the air recently, and I think I know why... This is the time of year where I routinely drop 4 or 5 hundred smackeroo's to satisfy my ancestral craving for fireworks! Problem is, my better half does not understand the sheer blissful elegance of watching your wages disappear in a 40 minute puff of sparks, and bang, and fizz, and zing and testosterone. It just isn't the 4th without simulating the Battle of the Bulge, not to mention the obligatory lalapalooza big bertha super wazoo for the grand finale! As the clock ticks and we get closer to that greatest of all Holidays, I am dropping all sorta hints about the importance of supporting local fund raising activities, and how wonderful our new medical insurance coverage is, but still I sense hostility... It's time to pull out my patriotic speech! I have to rally some good old fashioned patriotism and I believe that I remember every single word of America the Beautiful!! Now I have a plan! I feel much more optimistic! She will never be the wiser!! Look out Volunteer Fire Dept. Fireworks Booth! Here I come!! But I digress.... For some months now, there has been a quiet, top secret plan being hatched for the greatest ever boat-float to be presented during the Cedar Creek boat parade tomorrow. The finest minds and craftsmen in Louisville have been patiently working through all the details and bringing together the concept in strict secret. Anticipation is mounting as the day of Judgement nears, and if there is any justice this monumental effort will be recognized as the greatest 4th of July boat float ever by Louisvillians! Having fun, and saving water south of the river....
