Over the last 2 years most of Nebraska has followed the David and Goliath struggle that wrote the final chapter in the 142 year history of the City of Elkhorn at 2PM, on Feb 27, 2007.

At 2:01 PM that day a website was published in Louisville extending a welcome to the new Omaha residents of the City formerly-known-as Elkhorn Nebraska.

This welcome website has attracted significant attention, partially because the name; www.EscapeOmaha.com is a bit memorable, but the message is simple, and well-intentioned.

As a small Nebraska city, we were particularly moved by the valiant little City's struggle and empathasized with the feeling of loss that was clear on the faces.
It was impossible to not imagine ourselves in that situation.

Local Newspapers, Radio and TV Stations found our Elkhorn Empathy message to be interesting, and asked to speak to us.

Our Mayor, the Honorable Alan Mueller stepped forward and spoke about Louisville and our Message.

In Dependable Louisville Fashion we have rallied in support of our Friends to the North. We have let them know that they are more than welcome to Join us in our Small town. In the weeks to come we will be seeing Special Elkhorn Welcome Events, a Customized Elkhorn Tour Vehicle prepared by Bob Copple and more and more folks wearing Antlers in a showing of support for Elkhorn Traditions.

As we Celebrate our 150 Year birthday, and ready ourselves for the huge Louisville History Facts Challenge on April 20, imagine if that our own history was coming to an end.

If enough Elkhorn families join us, we have even considered changing the zip code.
