“Messiah” Opens Lofte’s 39th Season

Manley, NE [May 14, 2015] - The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces that on Saturday, May 23 it will open its 39th season with the family dramedy, “Messiah on the Frigidaire.”  Written by John Culbertson, “Messiah” takes place in the small town of Elroy, South Carolina.  Lou Ann Hightower and her husband Dwayne find what seems to be the image of Jesus appearing on an outdoor refrigerator.  When the appearance makes front page news, their little trailer park soon becomes a mecca of communion and commerce.

Kevin Colbert directs the show with Brenna Thompson of Lincoln playing Lou Ann and Scott Seelhoff of Fremont playing her husband Dwayne.  Others in the cast include  Chelsea Lulla of Ashland, Michael Magrans and Dan Ryberg of Omaha, Jestin Jones of Lincoln, Denise Schroeder of Gretna and Will Jones of Manley.

Production dates for the show are May 23, 24, 28-31 and June 5-7.  Curtain times are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm.  Ticket prices are $19.  Those interested can still purchase a season pass for all five of the Lofte’s shows this year for only $75.

The Lofte is located just east of the intersection of Highways 1 and 50 in Cass County.  Reservations can be made by calling the box office at (402) 234-2553.

Donate blood in honor of World Blood Donor Day

OMAHA, Neb. (May 14, 2015) — The American Red Cross seeks eligible donors to give blood in honor of World Blood Donor Day, June 14, and throughout the summer to help ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients in need.

Summer is an especially difficult time to collect enough blood to meet the needs of hospital patients. Many schools that host blood drives are out of session during the summer, and regular donors are often vacationing, potentially making them less available to give.

World Blood Donor Day highlights the constant need for donors – during the summer and throughout the year. Supermodel Niki Taylor, the celebrity spokesperson for World Blood Donor Day, fully understands the importance of blood donations. In 2001, she was in a near-fatal car accident and received about 100 pints of blood. To this day, she attributes her survival to the blood donors and doctors who helped save her life.

Those who come to donate blood with the Red Cross June 8-14, 2015, will receive a limited-edition Nexcare give bandage in one of eight global-inspired designs in honor of World Blood Every day this summer is a chance to give hope. Eligible donors are encouraged to choose their day to make a difference. Donors of all blood types – especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative – are needed. To make an appointment to give blood, download the

Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS
