Louisville Fireworks Stand

The fireworks stand will be open

June 25th through July 4th

every day from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m

Buy your fireworks here to benefit Louisville!

Some of the proceeds go to support B.U.I.L.D. (local events such as The Last Hot Sunday in July and Ringing in the Season). The Jr. Parents are doing the night security as a fundraiser. The Boy Scouts are also helping out by working the stand on the 4th of July and helping with tear down. The Class of 2015 is helping with set up. A lot of work goes into running the stand, but a lot of groups get the benefits.

Thanks for your support!

Anyone that wants to volunteer to work at the fireworks stand are encouraged to call Dee at 402-850-9552.

LOFTE THEATRE---
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED
Each year the Lofte Community Theatre in Manley awards a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to further their education.  This year's scholarship winner is Katie Schmitt of Murdock.
Katie first came to the Lofte after seeing her cousin Courtney Meyer (a past Lofte scholarship winner) at the old barn in the musical production, "Bye Bye Birdie."  "It looked like she was having such a great time and I knew that I wanted to be in a Lofte show someday," says Katie.
In 2008 Katie got a role in "The Sound of Music."  "I loved how everyone in the production became such great friends; almost like family.  One of my funniest memories is from that show.  One day the kids were singing 'Do-Re-Mi' and Millard Carnes said, 'Oh!  It's Tea with Jam and Bread?  I always thought it was Tea with Jan and Fred!'"
Katie's advice to people thinking of coming and volunteering at the Lofte, "I would tell them go for it. Being part of the Lofte is more than just putting on a play, it's making a summer full of memories that will last a lifetime. It is a lot of work, don't get me wrong, but in the end it's totally worth it. By the end of your first show you'll see that you've grown. You've grown in your respect for theater, you've grown in your talents and abilities, your friendships have grown, and you yourself have grown in maturity and knowing who you are."
Katie currently lives in Murdock with mom, dad and one sister.  She will be attending Grace University in Omaha this fall and majoring in Worship Arts and Biblical Studies.  This summer she is also looking forward to going to Orlando and attending the National FBLA Conference.  You'll also be able to see her and her sister in this summer's musical production, "Annie."
The Lofte congratulates Katie Schmitt on all of her accomplishments and wishes her good luck for her future.  We consider ourselves so lucky to be associated with the young stars who are the leaders of tomorrow.

Dear Louisvillians,
Though this doesn't necessarily impact Louisville, I felt inclined to include an update in this week's newsletter.  In light of severe weather, flooding and other Mother Nature concerns, it was nice to get an update about the family who was affected by the tornado in Oklahoma.  If you recall, I mentioned the family who was hit while the father/husband was out on harvest a couple of weeks ago.   Jamie (Zeorian) Hermesch, local Louisville resident, passed along this little tidbit of information that I found refreshing and hopeful.  She wanted to express her thanks to those who helped.  Read below the words that Jamie passed along to me.

Thanks to all of you who donated to the Hamil Family Tornado Relief fund, a check was delivered to Hank today in the amount of $20,920. And, being a typical harvester, he was in the field cutting wheat when it was delivered. He was VERY thankful for what the organization has done for him and his family. Cathleen was getting released from the hospital for the 2nd time this evening. She developed an infection in one of the injuries to her head and had to have more surgery. Catherine is continuing to heal but will have to remain in a wheelchair for 4 weeks.

I hope all is well in your worlds, Louisvillians.
Enjoy your summer!  Can you believe that it's officially began..as of June 21?  Read above for many activities and events here and in the surrounding communities!
Your Editor,
Paula
