Roger Bucks Pumpkin Farm
On
Monday, October 27 the Elmwood-Murdock Kindergarten classes of Diane
Vice and Emilie Cook visited Roger Buck's pumpkin farm. Roger took
the kids on a hayrack ride over a creaky bridge where they even saw a
visitor in the cornfield. The kids were able to pick out pumpkins to
take home with them and then got to play pumpkin themed games. After
juice and cookies provided by Roger and his wife, Diane the tired
children returned to school. The children will use some of the
pumpkins gathered for measuring and counting activities at school.
Both classes would like to thank Roger and his family for their
generosity.

Louisville - Bed and Breakfast - for YAHOO!
Silicon Valley Turns Red

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company's Nebraska operations will be a 150,000 square foot data center in LaVista, and a customer care center in Omaha, said Gov. Dave Heineman in a statement.
According to The Omaha World-Herald, Yahoo is
reportedly making an investment of $100 million in the LaVista site.
The papers said that the company was not yet sure how many Cornhuskers
it will employ, but is expected to initially hire 50 people who will
earn an average salary of $50,000 to $60,000 working at the La Vista
center.
The company said it didn't know how many people would immediately be hired for the call center
in Omaha. Yahoo is expected to initially hire 50 people, at an average
salary of $50,000 to $60,000, for the La Vista operation. Heineman told
the paper that the centers could potentially provide hundreds of jobs.
Wow, the neighborhood is turning Purple!
When Bob Heist and I started Digital Connections, (aka: Omaha Videoconferencing) in 1996 I needed a place to live that provided quick access (30min or less) to the new office in LaVista. When this building went up, there was nothing but weeds for neighbors.
After some research; Best place to live: Louisville
It has worked out well! It is a quick pleasant drive especially now that they put a few million dollars into highway 50. Nice!
Our roadside out here in LaVista is suddenly filled with Utility Markers. Ditch witches and backhoes are lining up waiting to trench some serious data pipes around the corner to our new Neighbor Yahoo.(old Tender Heart Treasures building)
I am impressed that the world class caliber of network demanded by a company like YAHOO for a Data Center was available right here in LaVista. The news of Yahoo locating here, with other bandwidth thirsty, network critical companies like Pay Pal just down the way will definitely attract additional businesses to this area.
Silicon Valley originally built up around resources that included talented people, and abundant network infrastructure. - Ok, they also had ocean breezes and sunshine, but we have Husker Football and a workforce with great can-do midwest attitude. Also we have more scarecrows than you can shake a stick at, pumpkins too!
There are going to be lots of new folks needing a great place to live, with convenient access to their work place, great schools, parks, lakes quality of life and elbow room.
If Silicon Valley goes to work in LaVista - LaVista comes Home to Louisville
(Did I mention, the Free WiFi? )
