This week our Student of the Week Winner is Lauren Votta. She is a sophmore at Louisville High School. Her activities include softball. She is the daughter of Angie Kilton.

She was nominated for these reasons:

She has played tough by the plate for the softball team
She has played through some injuries and her persistence has led the team
She has kept a positive attitude throughout
She has played solid throughout all of her games

2018 04 25 WW Memory Lane actors wanted

The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District will begin its annual bare-root tree seedling sales program (i.e. Conservation Forestry Program) starting November 1^st. Anyone within the Lower Platte South NRD is welcome to purchase trees. These bare-root trees/shrubs are offered for less than $1 apiece. All species are sold in bundles of 25. There are over 40 different species available, with windbreak classics like Colorado Blue Spruce & Ponderosa Pine, to wildlife friendly shrubs like Chokecherry & American Plum and some forest giants like Bur Oak & Black Walnut. The NRD is also excited to offer some new species this year such as Bald Cypress, Sycamore and Redbud. Please visit www.lpsnrd.org/programs/trees for complete species list and ordering information. You can purchase them online or by mailing in the printable brochure. The NRD will take orders until March 22^nd 2019 with trees expected to arrive by Arbor Day. 2018 10 31 MCC cookbook 1

Members of the Murray Christian Church, Murray, NE, have been busy creating a new cookbook that's here just in time for holiday gift-giving. There are still cookbook collectors out there that would appreciate this addition to their collection! Included are 78 pages of recipes, along with cooking tips, too.

Cookbooks are only $10 each, with proceeds going to the church.

Veterans Day Image

The Lofte Community Theatre, located in Manley, NE, just 25 minutes south of Omaha will provide a free admission event on Sunday, November 11th at 2:00 PM to celebrate all current and past Veterans and their service to our country. There are none more deserving of a special musical event than our service men and women! The Southeast Nebraska Community Band will be performing both old and new patriotic song selections in celebration of Veterans Day.

The Southeast Nebraska Community Band been performing for 25 years, and is made up of 60 individuals from 11 different counties throughout Nebraska. Some members have their roots playing with military bands in the Army or Air Force. Other members are former music teachers, while others just love to perform. Members range from middle schoolers to senior citizens. The Southeast Nebraska Community Band plays approximately 25 concerts per year providing a musical offering of patriotic songs, marches, swing and big band styles, polkas, pop classics, and movie and show tunes.

This is a free event! So bring all of your friends and family and honor Veterans with us!

The 3^rdAnnual “Living Nativity”

For a fun and meaningful Family Christmas Tradition, make plans to visit the “Living Nativity” near Murdock, NE. Guests walk though nine rooms in the grand old 1888 barn and interact with the “Living Nativity” animals in a delightful non-traditional way to hear the wondrous Christmas Story about the baby who was wrapped in swaddling clothes & laid in a manger (as told in Luke 2).

The “Living Nativity”will be open:

Saturday, November 24^th from 2-5 pm (during the Elmwood/Murdock Holiday Extravaganza)
Saturdays & Sundays, December 1^st, 2^nd, 8^th& 9^th from 3-6 pm.

Bring your family and friends. No reservations are needed. You’ll be inside a barn, but dress warmly if it’s a chilly day. The event is free; donations are appreciated to help defray expenses.
