Trenton Warner Benefit Spaghetti Dinner
April 23rd 4:30 - 7:30 pm at Louisville Public School, in Louisville, NE

March 23, 2005

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. The Louisville Community Organizations are doing a fund-raiser for Trenton Warner’s family. Trenton is an 8 year old boy whom on May 15, 2004 was hit in the middle of the forehead by a baseball. He was taken to the hospital, where they checked him over and sent him home. The following Monday, his parents took him to see his own Pediatrician. At that time he had x-rays and a CAT scan done. They found that the day of the injury he had a 2 centimeter bleeder that had stopped bleeding, so they watched him closely for awhile and everything seemed to progress nicely.

On February 20th, 2005 Trenton awoke from a nap and proceeded to blow his nose, and commented that his head hurt. Within two hours Trenton threw up and was running a fever. At 8:00 p.m. he went to bed for the night, and at 10:00 p.m. his mother went to check on him and found him having a seizure. After being taken to Midlands Hospital, he was then taken by Life Flight to Children’s Hospital where he stayed the night in ICU. He ended up staying at the hospital for 10 nights. During that time he had 1 MRI done, 3 Cat Scans, 1 EGG, and numerous x-rays. What the doctors said was that somehow when Trenton was hit in the head last May, there was damage done to the lining that stops all mucus from going to from the nose to the brain and from the brain area down to the nose. When he blew his nose on the 20th and said his head hurt, the mucus from the nose was sent up to the brain, which then got into the fracture from the two centimeter bleeder. Once it was in the fracture, infection set in. That turned to Meningitis which caused his brain to be 100% infected and caused the seizure. On March 22nd Trenton had surgery to fix the fracture in the head. They put a metal plate over the fracture so this infection can not set in again and tried mending the lining from the sinus cavities. At this time we do not know if this surgery was successful and what further treatments Trenton will need to undergo.
