With the senior population living long, Louisville Care Center is aiming to update its facilities to better meet the needs of the aging populations of Louisville and the surrounding region. The proposed Assisted Living will be a two-story addition, 20 units will be 544-square foot one bedroom units and the remaining two units will be two bedrooms with a total of 804-square feet per unit. Both will have a kitchenette, living and dining area, full walk-in closets and a bathroom that meets all requirements of the American Disabilities Act. The addition will also offer assisted living residents a private dining room where they can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special events. The plan also includes creating a sitting area, adding a physical therapy area, renovating the main kitchen, adding a rehab coordinator's office, increasing storage space and changing the nurses' station. After the renovation, the nurses' station will meet ADA and HIPAA regulations. The total project has a cost of $3,600,000. The project will seek to secure financing through a General Obligation Bond issued by the City of Louisville. The work has started:
