Many of you may have heard the recent news that there were 925 Absentee ballots sent out to Cass County voters that were invalid because they were not signed by the Clerk's Office before they were sent out. The Clerk's Office realized this problem last week and re-sent these ballots via express mail. However, many will not be received in time to be mailed back to the Clerk's office to be counted. (All ballots need to be received by 8:00pm in order to be counted.)
As of Monday evening, the latest directive from the Cass County Election Office is this; If you are in the affected group, and you were not able to return your ballot to the election office, you may vote by a "provisional ballot" at your polling location. When you go to the polls, explain your situation and ask to vote a Provisional ballot.Your poll worker can assist you through the process, which includes:
1. Complete the yellow voter registration form2. Sign the provisional oath on the provisional envelope
3. Complete the PIN form. (this allows you to follow up on your ballot at a later date)
925 votes in Cass County is too much to set aside. Please spread the word to anyone you know who may have voted Absentee.
